One Mean Mercury...

Up for sale… An amazingly built 2005 "Mercury S"...which is basically a beefy, tuned, mean spirited, loud, fast 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis sedan that I've spent the last year or so wrenching on. It's not a Marauder...but it's pretty damn fast, and pretty damn close. It for sure isn't your average slow moving elderly driver's Grand Marquis any more! So I simply badged it as a Mercury S.

Strong runner, with performance parts I never knew I would find for a Mercury, but fit exceptionally well with the stock modular 4.6L 281ci V8. The list of upgrades and modifications is a mile long, but I'll list out the most important ones as follows:

Cowl induction hood

Mercury Marauder front clip (with stock functioning LED fog lights)

Fox Lake P-51 intake manifold w/ CAI pipe and filter

Upgraded high output ignition coils

Mustang GT SOHC heads

Marauder center console

Hurst ProMatic three stage ratchet shifter

Marauder overhead console with auxiliary interior lighting

Autometer auxiliary gauges

Upgraded bucket seats factory power rails (still maintains the power functions of the original - up, down, forward, back - as well as the stock airbag functionality

300 amp alternator

Transmission "J-Mod" (google it...it's a good thing)

Balanced CVPI drive shaft (stock gear ratio at the moment)

battery relocation to the trunk

Bluetooth audio receiver with Kicker CS series speakers

CV Sport wheels

Upgraded rear control arms

Full free flowing headers

True dual exhaust

Two tone paint with that wicked red stripe and red in-set Mercury badging

LED tail lights

There are lot of other small modifications and upgrades here and there, but like I said above, it's a long list and most are relatively minor (LED lights, wiring, trim, badging...etc). If you have a question about anything you see, feel free to ask, and I'll respond in kind.

Mechanically this car is excellent with only 105k original miles and ready for daily driver use (although if you put your foot down hard regularly, it will be a very thirsty daily driver). These 4.6L modular motors are pretty bullet proof, and as long as you change your oil and make sure to keep up on basic maintenance it'll probably last you well into the 250 mark. I've enjoyed cruising it up and down the main drags for the last two weeks since the weather has gotten nicer, and I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. The Ford 4.6L pulls strong and transmission shifts very quickly. Down shifts for passing are remarkably quick, and upshifts are crisp and precise - especially for a four speed automatic. No warning lights on the dash, no weird leaks, good brakes and suspension, and plenty of meat left on the tires after two years. The paint looks great from 3 feet, but if you get right up on it you'll see some imperfections here and there. Paint codes come from the stock Ford color spectrum, so it's easy to find if it needs to be touched up at any time in the future. Interior is about an 8/10, but hey, this car is built for speed, not interior beauty. Everything you expect works exactly as you would expect it should, right down to the stock overdrive button on the stock column shifter.

One glaring exception. You may have caught it already.

The floor shifter has not been fully integrated due to stringent VA safety inspection laws. I can assure you, however, that the floor shifter does indeed function as it should once the cable is reinstalled (I tested this on a straight track and was very pleased about how that particular type of shifter works in this car). If you're a VA resident, the floor shifter will have to be disconnected prior to safety inspection. Them's just the rules in VA, not sure about other states, so please do your homework if you're planning on using the Hurst floor shifter on a daily driven car.

Selling for well below what I have in it (but isn't that always the case?)

Reserve is lower than the "Buy it Now" price, but as soon as there are viable bids, I'm pretty sure the "Buy it Now disappears. If it's not there, message me and make an offer...worst I can do is say no, right?

So if you're looking for a big, fast, loud, and good looking Mercury, but don't want to spend the kind of cash you normally would on a Marauder...this is your car. Snatch it up. Or better yet, pick it up just to cruise through the lanes and smash a few sports car driver's egos. That's fun too...your choice!
