Technical data for 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z-51, Z51
|Color:||Silver and Grey|
|Engine:||6 liter LS2 V8|
|Drive side:||Left-hand drive|
I am an adult driver (in my 40's), and a non-smoker. I am the second owner of the car and have had it for all but a couple of years of its life. I have put most of the miles on the car on highways doing some great road trips -- and the car has always been rock solid and very reliable.
This is the Z51 version of the C6 Corvette and so it has bigger brakes, cross drilled rotors, a different radiator plus an oil cooler, lower transmission gearing and a more sport-oriented suspension set up.
As for convenience/comfort options, the car has the normal good stuff (dual zone climate control, remote unlock key fobs, power windows and mirrors, removable targa top, etc.) and following additional options which I think is called the 3LT package:
Heads Up Display, Electronic Telescoping Steering Column, Memory Power driver's settings (settings for two drivers),
Power Driver and Passenger seat, Heated Driver and Passenger Seat, Premium Stereo with 6 Disc In-Dash Changer
Auto Dimming Mirror w/Compass, Homelink Garage Door Remote in Driver's Visor, Cargo Cover, Cargo Net.
The car also has about $10K in professional work, replacements and modifications (just the cost of parts, not including labor/installation, which would be another couple grand) to keep it trouble free, get it to handle really well, and get the most out of the rock-solid drivetrain. After driving it stock for a while, I did a lot of research and then started making changes and sensible mods that enhanced the good while making it more reliable. I have listed the full information on mods and extras listed below.
Highlights include Kooks headers, high flow cats w/cross-over pipe, Borla axel back exhaust, Bilsteins with Doug Rippie Motorsports re-valving, Whiteline end inks, ZR1 front swaybar, Z06 rear sway bar, Hurst shifter, aftermarket (lighter) rims, an entire extra (another set) of rims w/Nitto Invo tires, ported/polished throttle body, throttle body extender, a VaraRam cold air intake, an SLP under-drive pulley, etc.
In addition to all normal maintenance (oil changes, brake and clutch fluid changes, etc.) -- I installed an essentially new cooling system (new radiator, water pump, thermostat, upper and lower hoses, fan shroud, coolant), have changed the differential fluid multiple times (no noises/clunkiness whatsoever in the transaxle), the car has a new clutch master cylinder, front discs have been replaced, I have changed the starter plus I installed a remote starter solenoid away from the heat of the headers, it has recent plugs and MSD plug wires, etc.
After the suspension upgrades, I lowered the car about 1/2 of an inch on the stock adjustment bolts and then had it aligned at West End Alignment (best performance alignment shop in Southern California). It is super stable, very neutral, handles great and is a blast in the canyons - like a different car from stock.
It's running great, is completely up to date on maintenance, tech bulletins and GM recalls. TPMS sensors (a big expense and inconvenience) have been changed recently. Get in and drive it cross country, commute with it (gets surprisingly good gas mileage), use it for a weekend fun car as it is, etc...
Interior is clean. Has a padded leather center console cover, a professionally isntalled leather steering wheel cover, new shift knob, Lloyds floor mats, a cargo cover, a cargo net, etc....I'm an adult, non-smoker who loves his cars - so no weird smells, no rips, stains or anything other than normal wear and tear. All power options work, the roof panel says quiet and comes off and on easily to make the car almost like a convertible. The locking latch on the center console cover is broken, but I haven't replaced it (you can get a stock cover for less than $20 on Ebay) because I like the comfort of the padded leather on the current cover.
The exterior is also well-kept. Although not a show car cosmetically it has not been in any accidents (see the AutoCheck report above, which is clean) and is in good exterior condition.....and it does not look like every other Corvette, as you can see. The grey stripes are painted on and clear coated over. The black front and rear spoilers are ABS / urethane (not fiberglass) and can be removed in minutes w/no damage to the body surface if you don't want them.
The rims are about 2 years old and are a couple of pounds lighter each than the stock ones. The front and rear Corvette badges are new 100th Anniversary GM black emblems.
Some scrapes on lower rocker panel on passenger side from something that got kicked up on the freeway (see picture, touched-up and not very noticeable unless you get down to that level) and a few clear coat issues that could used to be cleaned up (from clear coat that was applied when the grey stripes were painted on) - for example around the indented 'Corvette' lettering in rear bumper and the front bumper area.
No cracks or big noticeable chips in windshield, no door dings. Headlight lenses could use a buffing with one of those clear headlight kits, but not too oxidized (you can do it, or Walmart and pretty much every local auto service place offer the service for around $30). Although the car has normal wear and tear for a 12 year old car, it has not been abused or neglected and I recently replaced all bulbs on lights on the front of the car (headlights, fog lights, etc.), replaced the windshield wipers, etc.
Rubber trim and moldings are in very good condition. Nice and clean under hood (does not drip anything or leak). Could use new front hood springs to hold the hood open, but it doesn't really bother me (I use a stick to prop it up when I need it open) -- just haven't gotten around to replacing them yet: they're not expensive or hard to find, can get them here on eBay.
Car comes with an extra set of rims with Nitto tires (not the ones on the car, a different extra set - a $600 value at least), stock air cleaner, the stock shift knob and shifter, many of the parts that were taken off the car, spares, maintenance items, etc.... plus receipts, and a lot more was done / included (see below for a build sheet with everthing listed in detail).
I know the car inside and out and am happy to answer questions, jump on the phone to discuss, etc. Clean title in hand. I can show the car in Los Angeles (South Bay Area near Manhattan Beach/LAX) or Orange County (Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley/Westminster area).
I recommend you come to see the car or have it inspected, and I will facilitate that (take it to a local shop of your choosing, etc.). Will also work with your shipper (shipped at your expense of course) after payment in full clears.
Please see all of the pictures (24 of them) and ask all questions will the listing is active. I'm happy to answer them. The car is being sold as is, where is and sales are final. I have more pictures, as well.
Please note that it is also for sale locally and on a Corvette forum website I belong to, so I need to reserve the right to cancel the listing and/or any bids received if it sells through either of those venues.
Thanks for looking!
